Review of Junior Year Fall Semester
The fall 2022 semester is over. Semester 5 of college is done, and now I have only 3 left! Dang makes me feel old. Running out of time where I can say "oh I'll do that next year". Anyways, here's a review of my semester in a couple of different aspects, while also trying to stay vague for anonymity.
Classes
Ethics: I enjoyed this class. Loved that the professors had the 9:30 AM lectures virtual, and enjoyed the weekly discussions we had. Also felt the content was interesting and definitely learned a lot during my final paper which was on a topic of my choice.
Objects and Design: This class was pretty mid. The class wasn't hard and it was fun to get some coding experience as we did a semester long app coding project, but I felt like I didn't get to learn anything.
Automata and Complexity This class was difficult. Yet another theory class that makes me question why I chose this thread. Getting a B in it rip. Professor was a genius, but his handwriting sucks and understanding him during lecture is not easy.
Cloud Computing The professor was super knowledgeable bu I didn't enjoy his teaching style. The labs were cool though, as we learned about various AWS services and had to manually create them in the AWS console ourselves. Grading was super relaxed, another plus.
Clubs and Activities
In total, I continued both clubs I was in from the spring semester and joined one new club. I also signed up for a bridge tournament this winter break, so that added a lot of weekly practices. I'm happy with the club that I joined as it helped me decide on a minor, but wish I had dropped one of the clubs I continued from spring for a new club I had looked into but couldn't fit into my schedule.
Fun
Over the summer, my girlfriend and I had created a list of places and events to go to this fall. While we didn't manage to hit them all, I definitely enjoyed this semester, as we attended both lots of on campus events and off campus events. While there were a few events I wish we went to, school took priority, so no regrets there.
